The project "Listening to Cultures" is developed by a Grundtvig Learning Partnership for the period 2010-2012. It project aims to explore innovative approaches and good practices in the area of teaching listening comprehension skills in the field of foreign language teaching and adult learning.At the same time offers the participants (language teachers and adult learners) the chance to develop a broader understanding of one other’s culture and ways of thinking and working. This is because Culture will be at the very heart of the project.
The materials selected and developed will reflect the culture of the target languages taught by the members of the partnership (all language teaching institutions, that will work with online audiovisual materials in multiple languages - English, Italian, Romanian, Greek, Danish, Estonian, Turkish- including 4 less wide-spread languages).
The results will be the exchange of good practices and methods on internet based listening comprehension activities for adult language learners, as the Internet gives access to various and up-to-date sources of cultural information and listening materials which can be efficiently collected and compared.
At the same time, the Internet will provide new ICT learning opportunities for all partner institutions and persons involved in the project, as it will work through a Moodle platform, developed in all partners' websites.
The teachers themselves (some of them non native speakers of the language they teach) will improve their own language skills while exchanging views and working on producing the materials and a Guide for Aural Comprehension Skills. 3 audio materials (extracts from the internet or not) on every language level (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) will be produced for each of the target languages.
