Higher education institutions worldwide are much more concerned about league tables and ranking systems than expected, an OECD investigation has found. “There appears to be a near obsession with the status and trajectory of the top 100,” a report of the investigation states. This despite the fact that there are 17,000 higher education institutions around the globe.

The entrance gates opened, but instead of people flocking in to taste the wares at the annual Food-for-Good Festival, the skies released a downpour.Twenty minutes later clear weather prevailed, mercifully encouraging 1,373 paying guests to come and sample the home-cooked food of 41 countries at Thessaloniki’s Plaz Aretsou on June 6. A healthy 10,000 was raised to support the needs of three local charities: Arsis, the Greek Association for the Protection of People with Autism, and the Association of Volunteers and Friends for the Protection of Minors. ...more
