E-journal bridges for foreign language learning

Pupils from three countries (Italy, Greece and France) are going to exchange mails and collaborate to create an e-journal.

Subjects:

Cross Curricular, European Studies, Foreign Languages, Geography,History of Culture, Informatics/ICT, Language and Literature, Media Education

Languages: English

Pupil’s age: 14 - 15

Tools to be used: Chat, e-mail, Forum, MP3, Other software (PowerPoint, video, pictures and drawings), Virtual learning environment (communities, virtual classes), Web publishing

Based on kit: E-journal bridges for foreign language learning

Aims: Help the students develop their IT skills and improve their English. They will exchange and compare ideas about different subjects with their foreign partners. They will learn how to organise an e-journal, etc.

Work process: The pupils will work on several given subjects and exchange ideas before publishing the articles that all of them will be able to read.

Expected results: An e-journal created collaboratively by the pupils from the three countries.

“My idea is to have my secondary school students to get to know foreign peers by exchanging information and opinions about the place they live in, with its culture and traditions, the school they attend, their interests and expectations.”

2.Teacher: Irene Sapounaki (Greece) 22nd Junior High School of Athens

Subjects: Art, Environmental Education, Foreign Languages, Geography, History, Informatics / ICT, Language and Literature, Media Education, Music, Religion

Language: English

“Students share information about culture and the way teenagers live with their European partner. They exchange cultural documents including language, history, environmental aspects, traditions religion etc.

Also they will find out what teenagers’ life is in Europe, what they are interested in, how they spend their free time, what their future plans are etc.”

3.Teacher: Nathalie Ecolivet (Collège Pierre et François Pithou (France)
